FCAT

fcat21What is the FCAT?

The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test was designed as a standardized test of specific reading, writing, science and math skills to be given to students beginning in third grade and continuing through tenth grade.  Its purpose is to adhere school curricula more closely to a statewide standard of performance.

Why don’t good students do well on the FCAT?

The FCAT tests specific skills in each subject area each year.  However, teachers in public schools often find it difficult to both teach their curricula and the skills mandated by the state.  The result is often stress for students, parents and teachers.  The FCAT assesses the Sunshine State Standards which, by their nature, are very general.  Good students may be performing well in their subject area classes with more specific topics of study.

How can we help?

That’s where private tutoring can help.  The FCAT students that we work with take assessment tests to determine their current strengths and weaknesses, and are then given customized sessions and materials to help them master the skills that are lacking.  We use actual FCAT tests to help your students prepare.  They are then retested to gauge improvement and to give you tangible assurance of their progress.
