We offer SSAT prep options for those students interested in private school. Our SSAT prep is conducted in one-on-one sessions which are usually scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on your student’s unique needs. During our sessions, we will focus on your student’s trouble spots which we will identify using a full-length SSAT diagnostic test.
The SSAT consists of reading, writing, and math. Much of the material is very similar (though of a lower level) to what your student will see in high school when he or she takes the SAT or ACT. Preparing for the SSAT will help your student become familiar and comfortable with the same material he will see later as he tackles college admissions tests.
The SSAT reading section consists of short passages followed by questions. Also included are analogies and synonyms.
The SSAT Writing section is in essay format. Given a prompt, your student will have to organize, plan and write an essay in 25 minutes.
The SSAT math covers basic math skills, algebra and geometry.

The Kaplan SSAT/ISEE book is a good place to start your prep. With three full length tests (two for upper level and one for lower level students), the book offers a good general idea of the test’s structure and content.
