The College Board Website – A Great SAT Prep Resource for Your Student

What is the College Board?

The College Board is the organization that makes the SAT.  The College Board has released two SAT Prep guides, both of which contain official SAT practice tests which are the best prep resource possible.  Taking these practice tests is an affordable and effective way to help your student prepare for what she will see on test day.  The newer version has 10 full length tests.

What is available on the College Board Website?

The College Board website has several helpful features.  Among these are:

1.  The SAT Study Plan.     This feature takes into account whether your student has taken the SAT before and how long your student has to prepare, and based on the answers to these questions provides a detailed study plan.

2.  The SAT Skills Insight.  This feature allows your student to see what skills he has to have in order to score in his target range, and includes sample problems of varying levels of difficulty.

3.  A free online practice test and score report.  This valuable feature allows your student to take a full length online practice test which will be graded and returned with detailed explanations of the correct answer choices.

As an SAT tutor with years of experience, I’d highly recommend taking advantage of the resources available on the College Board website.  Although there is no substitute for one-on-one SAT coaching, taking practice tests and devoting time to reviewing SAT content can do wonders for your student’s confidence and scores – all free of charge.
